The DUCCS group was very active this past academic year both in terms of meeting regularly for worship and community time, as well as hosting events for our larger school community.
In December we were the lead sponsor of an event that brought an ordained UCC minister from the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) to speak on campus and lead a discussion about reproductive justice. It was a well-attended event that sparked so much great conversation and enthusiasm that in April we sponsored an All-Options Clergy Counseling training event (also conducted by RCRC) regarding unwanted or problem pregnancies.
We also lent our support to an event in the spring organized with the help of Massachusetts Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice that focused on what we in the faith community can do to offer solidarity to those working for labor and immigrant rights.
DUCCS tries to work in the nexus of faith and community action and offer opportunities for UCC students and others to learn from and participate in our denomination's proud tradition of social justice. Please bring your own ideas for an event and join us!
